Original released in U.K. On December 1981.Debut album recorded in 3 days, it wasn’t really an album but a collection of re-recorded demos with a sleeve, which is why there’s such a huge difference in sound quality between 'Welcome To Hell' and the next album.Venom recorded the first 6-track demo (in 1980) that got them signed with Neat Records for their first 7’’ ‘In League With Satan’ / Live Like An Angel - Die Like A Devil. Here it must be said that the initial mix of the tracks was made by a Neat engineer that he didn’t understand Venom’s sound and in result it didn’t really sound like them, so Cronos stole the initial tape and replaced it before the pressing of the EPs with one of his own mix!First pressing includes pink insert + poster.Side B label, released on:, and variants. What a pity the second album release on Neat had to be Venom's effort. 'Welcome to Hell' is this music I ask? Rather a series of loud noises and hoarse croaks backed by no production at all. I don't like giving new bands a hard time, but what can you do when the product is so bad.
As for your Satanic imagery lads - I'm frightened out of my wits (yawn)- H. Johnson, Ker.ang No 8, February 1982.Dear Mr Johnson. Regarding your comments on our LP 'Welcome To hell' in Kershit No 8, we would like to thank you. But wait, what is this 'thank you' you say. For if we wish to ask an opinion of our latest work, do we not go unto our fathers and say,'Verily, son, is a merry tune', do we not scrap the shit? But if he do say 'Son, that's the biggest load of horse shit I've ever heard', we make merry and rejoice, for it will be our next single. Now you may ask yourself 'what is the meaning of this crap'.

But there is a moral to this story, 'Don't feed old men heavy metal'We don't like giving old journalists a hard time, but we certainly are. Also may I suggest that Mr Johnson retire to his reclining wheelchair and seek comfort with his over-the-top Journey LPs - Stan speaking for Venom. Ker.ang No 11 letters page, March 1982. Pioneers and one of the best releases of the genre, blending rock and punk into an evil pagan explosion. You can hear early in their catalog Venom's humor in 'Poison', Satanic with 'In League with Satan' and Pagan/ Biblical references in '1,000 days in Sodom'. Their next release Black Metal is an iconic album in the genre and then the closest Venom gets to a concept album with At War with Satan. I was 13 in 83' when I dropped the needle on this LP and first heard Cronos demonic growl come out of my cheap soundesign speakers.
